I am a firm believer that when something is well written, don't re-invent the wheel.  Reference it.

HOOF BALANCE
"Balance is the most difficult term to define in farriery but at the same time it is the most important concept to apply to a horse's hoof."

web author review:

"The Art and Science of Farrier Work" written by Nathanial Bruss is one such paper worth referencing.

If you have little time to invest in researching, are keen to learn but not sure what sources are reliable, may I suggest this wonderfully researched and well presented paper.  I found the work flowed nicely in an easy format to understand with diagrams and photo assist. The content covers basic fundamentals to advance concepts and application, based on current, accurate data and accountable with references to credible published research.

This paper is very well written.  It empowers you with a deep understanding of the equine digit and also seriously looks at other equally important factors that directly impact hoof health- nutrition and the metabolic triggers it plays in laminitis.  This paper will open  your eyes and mind to rethink many areas in equine hoof balancing and nutrition.

This is your one-stop international website - super source for farriery and trimming information  including a bulletin board for farriers, trimmers and vets exchanging ideas, learning from one another, growing together and testing new products.  This site contains a powerful library of articles and publications covering historical research and leading edge data on every aspect of the equine athlete from a-z.   The website is monitored by a resident farrier and two resident vets.  I stumbled across this website back in 2000 when my operating system was still DOS!  Had an amazing consult with Dr. Myers the resident vet regarding my donkey and gelding and have never looked back on the road to enlightenment!
Kudos to Baron Tayler- the genious web creator/developer and administrator.  He knows how to put out a top class website.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED WEBSITE
